From paintings to poetry, from shows to symphonies, astronomy and the arts have always been in constant conversation. The goal of Arts & Astro is to show that art and science are not mutually exclusive - in fact, they complement each other as two ways to explore and understand the world around us. We hope that when browsing our website, you can learn something new about space and find a piece of art that strikes a chord within you.

Arts & Astro is usually a physical show held on Columbia University's campus, but due to COVID-19, we moved the show online last year (with great success!). As the COVID-19 situation continues, we have decided to host an online show again for 2021. Our artist and scientist pairings made incredible pieces together across various locations and time zones, and all of our contributors demonstrated amazing creativity and perseverance in making Arts & Astro happen. We hope you enjoy our show!

BlueShift is
a community of undergraduates at Columbia University with a common interest in astronomy and astrophysics. We hold meetings to talk about current research and news in astronomy, host sessions to help connect undergrads with research opportunities and professors, and organize fun, creative events for space enthusiasts! Some of our regular plans include lunches with professors, outings to local amateur astronomy club events, guest lectures, stargazing trips, and more!
