Postcards From Another Planet

medium: Procreate on iPad and prismacolor pencils for sketch
This comic is a continuation (or prequel) of my last year's Arts & Astro submission--Tales From the Edge, which features partners Ari and Safiya and their long-distance relationship through Ari's work at a remote research station. Postcards From Another Planet shows a much earlier separation of the two via Safiya's study abroad program to Teegarden's Star B. While Ari stays at their university on Teegarden's Star C. Both planets are tidally locked (one side of the planet is in perpetual darkness and the other in light). The city where Saf is staying is in constant darkness, hence the need for the bright orange lights on a dark sky.
I'm a junior at Barnard majoring in Astrophysics (and maybe minoring in WGSS) and this year's Arts & Astro Chair! I usually use markers, gouache, and colored pencils in my work, but I've recently branched out into trying out digital art. Research wise, I am interested in planetary science (particularly ice giants and satellites of gas/ice giants), exoplanets, and science communication!
